What Happened To The Medieval Wharram Percy Village?
Wharram Percy is an abandoned medieval village in North Yorkshire that was once occupied continuously for a good 600 years. The small village was founded in the 9th or 10th century and flourished in the 12th and early 14th centuries.
Members of the noble Percy Family lived in the village between the 12th and 14th century but was sadly deserted some time in the early 16th century as a result of gradual abandonment and forced evictions of the town’s inhabitents.
We Found An Abandoned Limestone Mine Not Far From Wharram Percy
While out on a visit to Wharram Percy with the kids, an abandoned medieval village, we spotted a strange looking and very tall building in the distance. It was sat in the woods, abandoned, so we went to have a look.
It turns out the building is an abandoned limestone mine silo. We can’t find much more information on the building than that, but we did manage to capture some amazing shots of the place. As you can see nature has already taken over, the building has an eerie sense of history.
